Back By Popular Demand. The next Social Meeting is October 26th and once again Jamie Waller will host a seminar on 1911 pistols. If you want to learn a thing or two about 1911’s Jamie is the man you want to talk to so bring your pistol and be prepared to learn.  The next Business Meeting is November 9th.

     The 2016 KSC Membership Applications were mailed on September 30th. Membership dues this year also include a raffle for three Ruger 10/22 rifles with winners to be drawn on FRangeebruary 15th. If you did not receive your membership renewal application please contact Bryan Wurm @ 231-492-5530.

     Reminder – Work Bee: This Saturday (October 17th) at 9:00 am is the next Range Work Bee. Bring your gloves, shovels, rakes, screw guns, weed whackers, leaf blowers or any other tools you will need to help repair the back stops, work on the berms, mining lead, spreading wood chips, and general cleanup.  If you have a tractor with a blade to grade the driveway and parking lot that would be a great asset. If you can’t come for the duration but only for a few hours that is appreciated too.

     Sight in Days are scheduled for two consecutive Saturday and Sundays beginning October 31 & November 1 followed by November 7 & 8th. Saturday hours are 10AM until 4PM and Sundays are noon until 4PM. Volunteers will be needed for firearm check in, hanging targets, manning the spotting scopes and helping shooters get zeroed in (call Dean @ 231-632-0968 to volunteer) . Mark your calendar for this event. The second weekend is usually the busiest so if you have limited time that may be the one to attend.Hunters Supper always piggybacks with the last Saturday of sight in days so bring your appetite for some delicious food on Saturday November 7th from 4PM until 7PM. If you would be willing to bring a dish to pass or a dessert that would be greatly appreciated. Volunteers are needed on Friday night for food prep and setup. Saturday help is needed to cook, serve, take tickets and clean up. Please call Ted @ 231-313-0720 to volunteer.

     Kingsley Ambulance Fundraiser – Scott Sefiert, in cooperation with Nye’s Trap Range, will conduct a one day Concealed Pistol License class on Sunday, October 25 with all proceeds going to the Kingsley Ambulance Service. For more information please see the attached flyer.

     Conservation Officer Carl Vanderwall Raffle – Carl Vanderwall is 41 years old and was born /raised in Kingsley Michigan. He attended Kingsley High School playing football and track, graduating in 1992. He furthered his education at Cornerstone University graduating in 1996 with a BS in Biology. The next year he attended and completed NMC regional police academy and was hired by the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Dept. as a deputy. He became a Michigan Conservation Officer in 1998, starting in the U.P. then transferring to Emmet County where he currently resides with his wife Jennifer and 4 children.  Carl was diagnosed this spring with a rare form of Brain Cancer called Glioblastoma.  Doctors removed a 9 cm tumor from his brain back in May and he has been seeking treatment at the Mayo Clinic since that time.  Carl came back to work for a short period of time but Doctors discovered another tumor in an area of the brain that is inoperable.  Carl is again traveling out to the Mayo clinic for treatment and will be off work indefinitely. The proceeds of the raffle will be given to the Vanderwall family to assist with the many medical expenses they are encountering. You can check out the attached flyer to see the many fine firearms featured in this raffle.

     Found – A single key with a key ring tag was found in the KSC parking lot. A return email will reunite you with the lost key.

     Calling all Archers – Jeff Wendell is interested in setting up an archery range at the KSC. If you are interested in Archery and have some ideas or are willing to help in this endeavor please call Jeff @ 231-360-9643.

     The KSC has several ideas for future development which would cost money that we don’t have. If anyone has any experience writing grants and would like to help please call Dean Councilor @ 231-632-0968.

     Reserved/dedicated range Activities. The following reserved activities have first right to the use of the range at the designated days/times. If you are at the range at the same time you will need to adjust your activities to accommodate their needs. Club members and the public are welcome to participate in these activities. If you need 22 ammo to participate the KSC has ammo available for purchase so that you may partake in these events.

Work Bee, Saturday October 17th from 8:00 am until complete.

Pistol Shooters, every Sunday from noon until 3:00 pm.

The Well-Armed Women, the third Tuesday of every month beginning at 6:30 pm. (October 20, November 17 & December 15).

CPL Class (Registration required) October 24 from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm.
