Hunters Safety – Dennis Waineo announced that 103 students graduated from the September 12th class. Approximately 1/3 of the class were ladies. He extended a huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the class a success. He also thanked Jamie Waller for repairing the clay target thrower which has never worked correctly. Jamie’s modifications were excellent and the factory should take note of how to repair their own equipment.
Are you prepared for a medical emergency at home, on the road or at the range? On Saturday, October 10 from 8:00am – 5:30pm there will be an American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Class. This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. Cost of the class is $50 and will be held at Mt. Holiday in Traverse City. Space is limited to 14 students. Contact Derick Graczyk to sign up at 231-392-4147 or 231-357-3510 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Work Bee: Saturday, October 17th beginning at 9:00AM is the date for the next Range Work Bee. Lunch will be provided to those who RSVP by October 10th to Dean @ 231-632-0968. The work consists of the normal back stop repairs, work on the berms, mining lead, spreading wood chips, and general cleanup. Items to bring would be shovels, rakes, screw guns, saws, gloves, weed whackers, leaf blowers or anything you can think of to make the work easier. If you have a tractor with a blade to grade the driveway and parking lot that would be a great asset. Again, call Dean to RSVP for lunch and to see what else may be needed. If you can’t come for the duration but only for a few hours that is appreciated too.
Sight in Days are scheduled for two consecutive Saturday and Sundays beginning October 31 & November 1 followed by November 7 & 8th. Saturday hours are 10AM until 4PM and Sundays are noon until 4PM. Volunteers will be needed for firearm check in, hanging targets, manning the spotting scopes and helping shooters get zeroed in. Mark your calendar for this event. The second weekend is usually the busiest so if you have limited time that may be the one to attend. Hunters Supper always piggybacks with the last Saturday of sight in days so bring your appetite for some delicious food on Saturday November 7th from 4PM until 7PM. Volunteers will also be needed for this event. More information will be available for both of these activities next month.
Rich Steffe gave a nice report on the activities and success of the 4H shooters and how well they are hitting the target. Many of them are shooting freehand and hitting a spot the size of a nickel at 25 yards. Rich thanked the Club for all the support given to the group.
Reserved/dedicated range Activities. The following reserved activities have first right to the use of the range at the designated days/times. If you are at the range at the same time you will need to adjust your activities to accommodate their needs. Club members and the public are welcome to participate in these activities.
