March 2016 Newsletter

The next Social Meeting of March 28 will feature a session on reloading shotgun shells. The next Business Meeting is April 11th.

The new Membership Cards were mailed on March 10th with the new gate combination effective April 1st. If you did not receive your card please contact Bryan Wurm @ 231-492-5530 or bryanwrm@gmail.com.

Range Hours: The Spring / Summer range hours begin April 1st and end September 30th. Hours are as follows: Weekdays 9:00am – 9:00pm / Saturday 10:00am – 7:00pm / Sunday 12:00 noon – 6:00pm. Be respectful of the surrounding neighbors by observing the new range hours.

The KSC ANNUAL GUN SHOW will be from 9:00 am till 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 16th. Admission will be $3.00 per person. If you have any unused items that you wish to donate to the Club or if you have any items to place on consignment with the Clubs table please call Dean to make arrangements. You may reserve a table for $15.00. Help will be needed for setup on Friday night the 15th, during the show and for cleanup when the show is done. Please call Dean Councilor @ 231-632-0968 to volunteer to help or to reserve a table.

Mark your calendars for 8:00 am, Saturday, April 23rd for the Spring Work Bee. Also mark your calendar as volunteers will be needed on May 14th for the Mayfield Pond Park spring cleanup as well as for the June 4th Adams Fly Festival. Additional details will be forthcoming.

Hunters Education – The 2016 spring class will be held on Saturday, April 30th and Sunday May 1st. This class always fills quickly so don’t hesitate to call Leisa or Dennis at 231-947-7235 to reserve your spot. See the attached flier for more information.

The 4H Youth Shooting program will be resuming activities and signing up new shooters in the month of April. If you know of a youngster who may wish to participate or if you wish to become involved in the program please call Rich Steffe @ 231-620-5981.

The Northwest Michigan Friends of the NRA will be holding their annual banquet on April 23rd. You may find more details with this link Banquet.

Reserved/dedicated range Activities. The following reserved activities have first right to the use of the range at the designated days/times. If you are at the range at the same time you will need to adjust your activities to accommodate their needs. Club members and the public are welcome to participate in these activities.

Pistol Shooters, every Sunday from noon until 3:00 pm. The first Sunday of the month is CW day and the last Sunday of the month is .22 day. Sundays in between, shoot what you bring.

#149 – Winchester Model 70xtr 30-06. New in the original box. 1983 manufacture year. $700.00

#150 – Smith & Wesson Model M&P Shield 9mm. Essentially NIB. $385.00

If you are interested in either of these please send a reply email with your name and phone number and the number of the piece you are interest in. Then the week after the newsletter is sent I will forward the replies in the order received to the individual who has the firearm for sale. This way, the owner of the firearm doesn’t have to worry about publicizing their name and phone number for everyone to see and they can decide who to contact in regards to a possible sale.

If you have any firearms that you would like to sell send a return email with the information on what it is (brand, model, caliber, finish, barrel length, optics, etc.) and I will include it in the next newsletter.

May 14th, July 9th, September 24th and October 29th are the 2016 dates for the CCW Classes conducted by Ted Hentschel and Dave Wessel, owner of Great Guns in Acme. The class costs $150.00 and starts at 8:00 am and concludes at 5:30 pm. To reserve your spot please call Ted at 231-313-0720.
