The next Social Meeting is April 25th and will feature a demonstration on the correct way to clean your handgun. Be sure to bring one that needs cleaning. The next Business Meeting is May 9th.

Congratulations to the winners of our Ruger 10/22 raffle drawing. The lucky winners are Bill Muirhead, Michael Numerick and Richard Core.

The new Membership Cards have been mailed and the gate combination was changed on April 1st. If you did not receive your card please contact Bryan Wurm @ 231-492-5530 orbryanwrm@gmail.com. 

Range Hours: The Spring / Summer range hours began April 1st and run through September 30th. Hours are as follows: Weekdays 9:00am – 9:00pm / Saturday 10:00am – 7:00pm / Sunday 12:00 noon – 6:00pm. Be respectful of the surrounding neighbors by observing the new range hours.

2016-4-16_Gun_ShowThe KSC ANNUAL GUN SHOW is this weekend, Saturday April 16th from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Please support your Club by visiting the show and encouraging your shooting friends to come as well. You could also pass out a few of the attached flyers advertising the gun show.

Upcoming Events – Mark your calendars for 8:00 am, Saturday, April 23rd for the KSC Spring Work Bee.The usual tasks of rebuilding/repairing the backstops, reclaiming some lead, cleanup fixup and spruceup will be the tasks at hand. Bring your gloves, hammer, screwguns, razor knife, rake, leaf blower, circular saw, enthusiasm and appetite as lunch will be served.

The Mayfield Pond Park clean up day runs from 9:00 am – noon on Saturday, May 14. Gloves, rakes and leafblowers are the tools of choice. Lunch will be served as well. Please call the Paradise Township Office @ 231-263-5251 to let them know you’ll be there to help and also let them know you’re from the KSC.

Hunters Education – The 2016 spring class is quickly approaching on Saturday, April 30th and Sunday May 1st. This class always fills quickly so don’t hesitate to call Leisa or Dennis at 231-947-7235 to reserve your spot or to pledge your assistance. Assistance for the Sunday field day is needed in the following categories; 22 Pistols (four needed), 22 Rifle (3 needed), Shotgun (3 needed), Muzzleloader (2 needed), Gun Handling-Hunting Safety-Treestand Safety (3 needed), Fence Crossing-Gun Safety (2 needed). See the attached flier for more information.

The 4H Youth Shooting program has resumed. If you know of a youngster who may wish to participate or if you wish to become involved in the program please call Rich Steffe @ 231-620-5981.

Reserved/dedicated range Activities. The following reserved activities have the first right to the use of the range at the designated days/times. If you are at the range at the same time you will need to adjust your activities to accommodate their needs. Club members and the public are welcome to participate in these activities.

4H Youth Shoot – Begining at 5:30 pm on Tuesdays, April 12 & 26, May 10 & 24, June 7 & 21, July 5 & 19, August 9 & 23, September 9 & 23 and October 4 & 18.

Pistol Shooters, every Sunday from noon until 3:00 pm. The first Sunday of the month is CCW day and the last Sunday of the month is .22 day. Sundays in between, shoot what you bring.

22 Silhouette Shoot – Begining at 6:00 pm every Thursday night starting May 5th and running until fall.

KSC member Jerry Lauzon is active with the patriotic efforts of the Reining Liberty Ranch, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that helps veterans through programs centered around the horse-human relationship. Attached are flyers for their April 23 pancake breakfast hosted by Moomers and for an April 30th tack sale and silent auction.

Firearms for Sale

If you have any firearms that you would like to sell send a return email with the information on what it is (brand, model, caliber, finish, barrel length, optics, etc.) and I will include it in the next newsletter.

May 14th, July 9th, September 24th and October 29th are the 2016 dates for the CCW Classesconducted by Ted Hentschel and Dave Wessel, owner of Great Guns in Acme. The class costs $150.00 and starts at 8:00 am and concludes at 5:30 pm. To reserve your spot please call Ted at 231-313-0720.
