The Social Meeting of March 25 will be Larry Fischer’s presentation on Black Powder rifles & pistols. The next Business Meeting is on March 11th.

The Membership Renewal Rifle Raffle drawing was held on February 25 and David Pierman and Allan Saunders were the lucky winners.  2019 Membership Cards were mailed on February 26th and the gate combo was changed on March 1st. If you didn’t receive your membership card in the mail please contact Lloyd Gauthier @ 231-947-4924.

Range Hours: The Spring / Summer range hours begin April 1st and end September 30th. Hours are as follows: Weekdays 9:00am – 9:00pm / Saturday 10:00am – 7:00pm / Sunday 12:00 noon – 6:00pm. The Range Hours are also posted on the entrance to the Shooting Pavilion. Be respectful of the surrounding neighbors by observing the new range hours.

The US House has passed anti-gun legislation H.R. 8 and H.R. 1112. Now is the time to contact your Senators and ask them to oppose H.R. 8, S. 42 and H.B. 1112. You can read more with this link Oppose Gun Legislation.

Jasen Hutchens has agreed to take over as the Club’s webmaster and will be updating the website. If you have any suggestions for the website please send an email with those suggestions.

The KSC Gun Show is scheduled for April 27. Please make copies of the attached flyer and post them at your place of work or any sport shops that you visit. KSC Member Mark Walkowiak has generously donated two CVA muzzle loaders to the Club to be sold at the gun show. If any other club member has any items they would like to donate please contact President Dean Councilor. Help will be needed Friday night April 26th for set up (beginning at 6:00 pm) and help will also be needed the day of the show. Dean is expecting your call to volunteer your help @ 231-632-0968.

Mark your calendars as April 28th will be the first Work Bee of the season (at 9:00 am) as we prepare for the upcoming Hunters Safety Class. Repairing the backstops and a general cleanup are on the docket with a more comprehensive work bee to be scheduled at a later date.

ksc-3-19The Kingsley Sportsman’s Club and Grand Traverse Archers will be hosting a Hunters Education Course. The course will held at the Kingsley Sportsman’s Club and will be a two day course with the book work portion of the class being Saturday May 4th from 8:30 till 4:00 and the field portion of the class being done Sunday May 5th from 8:30 till noon. If the student does the online class they still have to take a test and do the field portion.

As usual I will be asking for volunteers, for the class I will need about 5 instructors, 3 for lunch helpers, and about 15 for the field day help. Call, text or email Dennis if you can help (231) 342-3703

The class was posted on the DNR web site on March 4th. Class portion limited to 35 students, if you know anyone needing the course please call soon, it will fill up. See the attached file for more information.

The 2019 dates for the CCW Classes instructed by KSC member Derick Graczyk of Patriot Firearms are as follows: March 30, April 20, May 18 and a Ladies only Class (taught by a female instructor) on June 8th. The cost is $125.00 and the class starts at 8:00am. You can register by contacting Derick @ or 231-392-4147. A CPL 2.0 Defensive Shooting Class is scheduled for May 25th and will cost $100.00.

The 2019 dates for the CCW Classes conducted by KSC members Ted Hentschel and Dave Wessel, owner of Great Guns in Acme are as follows: March 16, May 11, July 27, September 28 and October 26. The class costs $150.00 and starts at 8:00 am and concludes at 5:30 pm. To reserve your spot please call Ted at 231-313-0720.

Reserved/Dedicated Range Activities. The following reserved activities have first right to the use of the range at the designated days/times. If you are at the range at the same time you will need to adjust your activities to accommodate their needs. Club members and the public are welcome to participate in these activities.

CPL Range, reserved from 12:30 until 3:30 on March 16, May 11, July 27, September 28 and October 26 and from 3-5 pm on January 19, February 2, February 23, and from 3:30 to 5 pm on March 2, March 30, April 20 and May 18 for CPL Classes.

Pistol Shooters, every Sunday from noon until 2:00 pm. The first Sunday of the month is CCW day and the last Sunday of the month is .22 day. Sundays in between, shoot what you bring.

Firearms For Sale:

If you have any firearms that you would like to sell send an email with the information on what it is (brand, model, caliber, finish, barrel length, optics, etc.) and I will include it in the next newsletter. Please indicate if you wish to be contacted directly or through the Club’s email.
