The Social Meeting of April 22nd will be a Black powder demo and shooting at the range. The next Business Meeting is on May 13th.

Jasen Hutchens has agreed to take over as the Club’s webmaster and will be updating the website. If you have any suggestions for the website please send an email with those suggestions.

Grand Traverse Archers – Spring is here, we will have an Archery Meeting April 17th @ 7 pm. @ Kingsley Sportsman’s Club, let’s talk about outdoor archery.

First priority to set up 3-D outdoor range, second priority is getting outdoor practice range built. Would like to propose the idea to the KSC board at the May business meeting.

Straits Field Archery will have their indoor winter banquet and fun shoot Sunday April 14th. @ 2 pm. Hosted by Northwoods Archery in Grayling. All are welcome, trying to introduce more into competitive archery shooting.

If you haven’t renewed your Kingsley Sportsman’s Club dues or want to become a member there are about 50 memberships available. Grand Traverse Archers is now a part of the Kingsley Sportsman’s Club. Being a member will get you through the gates to shoot at the ranges.

015The KSC Gun Show is scheduled for April 27. Please make copies of the attached flyer and post them at your place of work or any sport shops that you visit. KSC Member Mark Walkowiak has generously donated two CVA muzzle loaders to the Club to be sold at the gun show. If any other club member has any items they would like to donate please contact President Dean Councilor. Help will be needed Friday night April 26th for set up (beginning at 6:00 pm) and help will also be needed the day of the show.

April 28th will be the first Work Bee of the season (at 8:00 am) as we prepare for the upcoming Hunters Safety Class. Repairing the backstops and a general cleanup are on the docket with a more comprehensive work bee to be scheduled at a later date. Lunch will be served.

The Kingsley Sportsman’s Club and G T Archers will be hosting a Hunters Education Course. The course will held at the Kingsley Sportsman’s Club and will be a two day course with the book work portion of the class being Saturday May 4th from 8:30 till 4:00 and the field portion of the class being done Sunday May 5th from 8:30 till noon. If the student does the online class they still have to take a test and do the field portion. Volunteers for Sunday for the field day portion of the course, need about 15 helpers, stations include tree stand safety, gun handling and fence crossing, muzzle loading demonstration, shotgun, rifle and pistol.

The class was posted on the DNR web site on March 4th. Class portion limited to 35 students, if you know anyone needing the course please call soon, it will fill up. See the attached file for more information.

Nye’s Trap Range will be hosting a Youth Shooting League for ages 11-18 on Tuesday evening’s beginning on May 21st. Please check out the attachment for all the details.

The Missaukee Conversation Club will be hosting their 65th and final Beaver Dinner (with turkey and other wild game) on Saturday, April 27th. Check out the attached flyer for all the details.

The Adams Fly Festival will be from noon to 8:00pm on Saturday, June 8th. See the attached flyer for more details.


Reserved/Dedicated Range Activities. The following reserved activities have first right to the use of the range at the designated days/times. If you are at the range at the same time you will need to adjust your activities to accommodate their needs. Club members and the public are welcome to participate in these activities.

CPL Range, reserved from 12:30 until 3:30 on May 11, July 27, September 28 and October 26 and from 3-5 pm on January 19, February 2, February 23, and from 3:30 to 5 pm on March 2, March 30, April 20 and May 18 for CPL Classes.

Pistol Shooters, every Sunday from noon until 2:00 pm. The first Sunday of the month is CCW day and the last Sunday of the month is .22 day. Sundays in between, shoot what you bring.
